Dutch podcast tackles discernment as Christian audio audiences skew young

A new Dutch podcast episode on discerning God's voice reflects a devotional audio genre that research suggests appeals strongly to younger Christian listeners.

A Dutch Christian outlet has released a podcast episode addressing how listeners might distinguish personal thought from what they understand as divine guidance. The topic sits within a broader devotional and spiritual formation genre that has grown on Christian podcast platforms. For Christian media producers, the format signals continued demand for reflective, personal-growth content delivered through audio rather than text or video. The episode’s focus on inner discernment also points to an audience seeking guidance on faith practice in everyday life, a niche that podcasts appear well suited to serve.

ECMS 2026 found that 44 per cent of under-35 respondents listen to Christian podcasts, compared with 21 per cent of over-55s, suggesting this format may resonate more with younger audiences than with older ones.
