Bible society turns to podcasts and family Bibles to reach migrant churches

A Dutch Bible society's new podcast and print resources for migrant churches point to growing use of audio formats to reach dispersed Christian communities.

The Dutch-Flemish Bible Society (NBG) has launched a podcast, ‘Faith across borders’, alongside Family Bibles and devotionals aimed at migrant congregations. The podcast discusses themes such as the difference between joy and happiness and how much spontaneity a church service can hold. For migrant churches, often smaller and more dispersed, podcasts and printed resources in accessible formats can widen access to shared theological reflection across language and cultural lines. It also reflects a broader shift among Christian publishers towards audio formats as a complement to traditional print outreach.

ECMS 2026 found that 44 per cent of under-35s listen to Christian podcasts compared with 21 per cent of over-55s, suggesting a NBG podcast aimed at migrant communities, often younger in profile, could fit a format already favoured by that age group.
